Eligibility Criteria for NEET UG 2024

The following qualifications are required to appear in NEET (UG) 2024 in accordance with the relevant NMC and DCI regulations:

Age Limit

At the time of admission, the applicant was 17 years old, or on or before December 31, the year of admission to the first year of the undergraduate medical course, the applicant would have turned 17 years old.

Upper Age limit

There is no upper age limit, according letter No. U-11022/2/2022-UGMEB, dated 9 March 2022, which was received from the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Citizen Eligibility

In order to pursue an undergraduate medical program in a foreign medical or dental institution, Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) must also meet the NEET (UG) qualifying requirements.

Number of Subjects

Three courses in total—physics, chemistry, and biology—will be covered.

No. of Attempt

The maximum number of attempts allowed for the NEET UG Exam in 2024 is unrestricted.

Nationality

Applicants who are Indian nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, or foreign nationals may submit an application.

NEET UG 2024 Eligibility Criteria

As long as the student meets the requirements outlined in the NMC and DCI regulations, which include passing Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually as well as earning at least 50% of the possible points in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology during the qualifying exam, they will be eligible to take the NEET UG 2024. In order to be admitted to undergraduate medical programs, they must also have achieved a position on the merit list of the NEET (UG) entrance exam in 2024.

 

The minimum marks required in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology for students in the qualifying examination will be 40% for SC (Scheduled Castes), ST (Scheduled Tribes), and Other Backward Classes (NCL) applicants, rather than 50% for Unreserved and General-EWS applicants.

 

According to NMC and DCI regulations, PwBD applicants must receive 40% rather than 50% in the qualifying examinations for Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Botany and Zoology), and Biotechnology.

 

Furthermore, it is stipulated that applicants to medical colleges in India who have studied overseas must have completed their class 12 coursework in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with a minimum of 50% of the possible points. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) will assess the candidates’ equivalency in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Medical Council of India and the relevant university.

 

The minimal qualifying marks requirements in accordance with the policies that apply to JIPMER and AIIMS will be necessary to be admitted to the MBBS programs at both institutions. NEET UG applicants should visit the AIIMS and JIPMER websites.

Criteria for NRI / OCI / Foreign Nationals

Admission to medical and dental colleges is open to non-resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and foreign nationals, according to the policies established by the relevant State governments, educational institutions, and the Government of India (GoI).

 

In order to validate their claim to be NRI or OCI candidates, NRI and OCI applicants must include a certificate from the relevant Indian Diplomatic Mission in their home country with their online application for NEET (UG) – 2024. Have the original copy of this document on hand in case you need to present it for counseling or admittance to any NEET-eligible courses (UG).

 

Similarly, in addition to submitting the online application form, a foreign applicant for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test [NEET] Undergraduate 2024 must also upload supporting documentation (such as a certificate from the appropriate authority in their home country or a pertinent page of a valid passport) for their candidacy.

 

Appendices XVII A and XVII B include the format for the citizenship certificate, embassy certificate, and any other official documentation of citizenship. The relevant Medical/Dental/College/State authority may verify their eligibility for foreign nationals.
