Construction of the 11-story Seattle Central Public Library in downtown Seattle was completed in April 2004. It’s the Seattle Public Library system’s main library, with a sleek, modern glass facade that appears to be surrounded in a giant steel net. The library is around 360,000 square feet in size and can accommodate over 1.5 million books, therefore it has a lot of books. It has won several awards for its amazing architectural design and, from the 10th story, tourists may enjoy some of the greatest views of the entire Puget Sound.
The public library is 362,987 square feet (33,722.6 m2) in size and can accommodate over 1.5 million volumes and other items. It provides more than 400 public computers and 143 spaces for subterranean parking. In its first year, the library had over two million visits. It is the third building of the Seattle Central Library complex to be situated on the same block at 1000 Fourth Avenue, which is bordered by Madison and Spring Streets as well as Fourth and Fifth Avenues. Several distinct “floating platforms” that appear to be encased in a substantial steel net surrounding glass skin give the library a distinctive and eye-catching look. In June 2004, the building’s architects started giving tours.
