Women’s Premier League 2025: RCB Opt to Field First Against Gujarat Giants

The third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) kicked off in Vadodara on February 14, 2025, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on Gujarat Giants in the opening match.

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and elected to field first.

RCB, the defending champions, have been hit by injuries but named a strong squad featuring overseas stars Ellyse Perry, Georgia Wareham, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge, and Kim Garth.

They also handed WPL debuts to Prema Rawat, Joshitha VJ, and Raghvi Bisht.

On the other side, Gujarat Giants introduced five new players to their lineup, including West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin.
